Black Touch Controls: The Layout That Survives the Dockyard

Tune the BLACK Android touch layout properly: thumb zones, sensitivity, hold-to-aim, and the button sizes that stop mid-fight mistakes.

Assault rifle in an industrial yard in BLACK gameplay footage

The default touch layout in this port is a reasonable sketch. It is not a finished control scheme, and the difference shows up precisely where the game gets loud. This guide is the layout our reviewer settled on after full missions with the Black FPS APK, tested hardest in the dockyard, where long sightlines punish sloppy aim.

The two thumb zones

Everything follows one rule: left thumb moves, right thumb looks, and nothing else lives in either thumb's travel path. Place the movement stick low-left where your thumb naturally lands, not where the default puts it. Keep the look area completely empty on the right half of the screen. Every button you drag into that space, however tidy it looks in the editor, becomes a mis-tap during a firefight. Fire and aim belong at the right edge, stacked vertically, reachable without lifting the look thumb's rhythm.

Sensitivity: lower than you think

BLACK is a mid-range game. Most fights are won between ten and forty metres, with small corrections onto targets using cover, so a sensitivity that feels sluggish in the menu is usually correct in a room. Set horizontal look a touch faster than vertical. Then test on the first mission's street: if you are overshooting doorways, drop it one notch; the sniper sections later will thank you. Our sniper guide for the scope missions has the finer settings for long shots.

Hold, toggle and button size

Choose hold-to-aim for phone play. Toggle invites the classic accident, sprinting into a room still scoped. Make the fire button the largest on the screen and the reload button second; those are the two you hit under stress, and the game's reload focus effect means a well-timed reload is a tactic, not a delay. Grenade and weapon swap can stay smaller, at the top edge, where intention is required. Players who own a pad should also read our controller guide for BLACK on Android, because the game was designed for one and it shows.

Five minutes that pay all campaign

Do this tuning before the campaign, not during it, and replay the opening street once with the new layout. The Black Android port saves your arrangement, so the five minutes are spent exactly once. Every guide on this site assumes this baseline; if a later mission feels unfair, check your layout here before you check your aim.

When the layout still feels wrong

If a mission keeps going badly after this setup, change one thing at a time and retest on the same street, not three things before a new level. Most remaining complaints about the Black FPS APK controls trace back to a case, a thick screen protector edge, or a phone dropping its touch sampling rate when it heats up, none of which a layout can fix. The Black Android port itself is consistent; give it a consistent test and it will tell you the truth about your thumbs within one mission.

Quick Answers

Hold or toggle aim on touch?

Hold. It prevents entering rooms still scoped and suits shorter phone sessions.

Why does my aim overshoot at long range?

Sensitivity is too high for this game's mid-range fights. Lower it one notch at a time and test on a doorway, not in the menu.

Can I move every button?

Yes, positions and sizes are adjustable. Keep the right half of the screen clear for looking, whatever else you change.
